JILL ILIFFE - PAINTER

I am an English artist living in a small village in Hampshire, having lived most of my life in London. Since moving to the countryside, I have found that my subject matter has evolved to encompass quieter subjects such as birds, animals, landscapes and still life studies, however, I still undertake portrait commissions.

Working in oils, watercolour or graphite, what has remained a constant has been the search in my work for a connection between myself and the viewer of my work. This may mean that I focus in great detail on one particular subject or area in the work that I want the viewer to look at, or it may mean that my painting has a mood that I want the viewer to feel. I take a great deal of time on each piece and constantly stretch myself as an artist rather than remaining with one subject.

I graduated from the University of London with a Masters in Drawing in 2009 and I was subsequently elected to the Society of Graphic Fine Arts. I have exhibited widely in both commercial and public galleries and my work is held in many private collections. In 2019 a painting was purchased by the National Art Fund for a museum collection. In 2020 I took part in Sky Portrait Artist broadcast on Sky Arts.
